The  Ven. Howell C. Sasser, Sr.

 

Father Sasser, a retired priest of the Church of England, comes to Good Shepherd after a long and productive life in the Anglican Church in Europe.  During his posting in the Diocese of Gibraltar in Europe of the Church of England, he served congregations in Athens, Greece, Montreux, Switzerland and Porto, Portugal.  Prior to that he had ministered in Cyprus and Somalia, where he was licensed by the Anglican Bishop of Egypt.  From 1998 until 2005 he represented the Diocese in Europe in the General Synod of the Church of England.  As Archdeacon of Gibraltar from 2002 until 2005, he ministered to Anglican congregations in Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Morocco.  On his retirement from the Church of England in the summer of 2005, he was appointed temporary Chaplain to the Bishop of Gibraltar in Europe.  In September 2006 Father Sasser returned to the United States and joined Bishop Martyn  Minns in the new Convocation of Anglicans in North America.  Father Sasser was commissioned as Archdeacon in CANA in 2006 and continues to support the Bishop in the work of that office.  In late 2007, Father Sasser was asked to give support to the development  of a CANA congregation in the Mechanicsburg area.  Since late 2007, he has been Vicar of Good Shepherd.

Father Keith Almond comes to the Good Shepherd Parrish after having served as interim rector at the South Riding Anglican Church in Chantilly, Virginia.  Ordained an Anglican priest in 2009, Fr. Almond served for twenty-four years prior to that as a United Methodist pastor, appointed to churches in both Northern Virginia and Virginia Beach.  He has a background in evangelism and congregational development, and currently is a member of the Church Planting Committee for the Anglican District of Virginia.  Fr. Almond also served as Director of the Leadership Development Institute in the Virginia Conference for eight years."
